INTRO:
Music is part of my everyday life especially now that I have a baby. I sing to my son to put him to sleep or sometimes just to amuse him. The best reward I got so far is a smile from him. A song somehow depicts what I’m feeling at the moment. It is more meaningful when you dedicate a certain song to someone or something. So if I have to do an album (music album hindi photo album) here are some of my favorite songs that would be included.
CHORUS:
1. To Riley - Thanks to You by Tyler Collins
I have a lot of songs for Riley. Some of them are: You Change my Life in a Moment, My Guy, I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing, Tulog Na, and Tell Me Where It Hurts (literally!). But I chose this song because if not for him I won’t experience the wonder of being a mother. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for teaching me the pure kind of love. Love you, love you, love you anak! (with gigil factor)
No heartache, No heartbreak
No fall from grace
Can’t stop me from believing
That my love will see me through
Thanks to you
2. To my mom – A Song For Mama by Boyz II Men
I appreciate her even before but I understand her more, now that I’m a mother myself. It’s true no mother wants anything bad to happen to their children. Everything they do or say is for our own good only. I wish I can be as great (or even half as great) as my mother. I look up to her in so many ways.
And you took up for me
When everyone was downin’ me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on
3. Gian and Nyle - Cant Smile Without You by Barry Manilow
I still miss them. My happiness is incomplete because they are not here to share my joy. Sure, we talk through the internet but it’s not the same when we are face to face. There’s just things you cannot do online. I miss hugging them. I miss having our movie night. I miss our singing session together. I miss playing plants vs. zombies with you. I miss debating with you. Basta, I miss having you around! Mas masaya pa naman sana tayo kasi andito na si Riley.
L
You came along just like a song
And brightened my day
Who would have believed that you were part of a dream
Now it all seems light years away
4. Daddy R - Panaginip by Wake Up Your Seatmate
I could dedicate any love song for him but I don't want to. I want to settle things first before I sing a happy tune. I love him. He said he loves me. But things change. People change. Feelings fade away. So I want to clear things between the two of us before I dream a happy dream. But even though we won’t end up with each other, he would forever have that special place in my heart because he is the father of my son.
Gusto ng mahimbing para makapanaginip
Umalis sa mundong totoo at puno ng gulo
Para kahit na hindi tayo sa huli
Sa aking mga panaginip, tayo’y magwawagi
5. Myself – I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
Life is always about choices: To sit out or to dance. To fight or be stepped out. To keep grudges or to forgive. To love or to hate. To have faith or give up. It makes me sad that most of the times I chose the easy way out. I walk the path of least resistance. I hope one day I can freely dance and have the courage to do what my heart desires. Because that’s the only way I will truly live...
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin might mean takin chances but they’re worth takin,
Lovin might be a mistake but its worth makin
Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone
6. To the men who loved, loves, and will love me – Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow
I’m not the easiest person to fall in love with. It takes a strong man to keep up with me. Someone who will see the real me and for some strange reason, love me just as I am. Coz I can never be what I am not.
‘Cause you can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?
7. The man I’m gonna marry -I Do by Dashboard Confessional
I don’t know if I’ll ever get married, but if I do, I want this to be my wedding song. My friend Gino introduced me to this song and the first time I heard it, I fell in love with it. Such a sweet romantic simple song.
Do you want that forever?
'Cause I do
Oh love, hang on,
If you're willing,
I’ll be strong
8. About Problems – Stuck in a Moment by U2
Who doesn’t have problems? It’s part of life. But it’s all a phase. A moment. Sometimes we got stuck. But I always put in my mind that everything ends. That nothing last forever. It’s just one of those days. So it is okay to get stuck for a moment. Then tomorrow time to get myself back together!
You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it
It's just a moment
This time will pass
9. To people who judge me – I’m Still Here by Goo Goo Dolls
Other people can say bad things about me. But in the end, it won’t matter. What is important is that I know the truth and I’m happy and contented with my life. I’m still here standing strong!
They can't tell me who to be
Cause I'm not what they see
Yeah, the world is still sleeping while I keep on dreaming for me
And their words are just whispers and lies that I'll never believe
10. At Life – With A Smile by Eraserheads
This is one of my favorite songs by Eraserheads. I am a fan of this band and I like the message of this song: to just smile despite trials in life. Sabi nga: “Yesterday ended last night.” You cannot do anything about it. So instead of getting sad or blame yourself, mag SMILE ka na lang. Di ka pa papanget! Life is too short to be wasted on unhealthy things.
Lift your head
Baby don’t be scared
Of the things that could go wrong along the way
You’ll get by with a smile
You'll get along with a little prayer and a song
BRIDGE:
So whether its rock, ballad, alternative, rnb or hard core music
LET US KEEP ON SINGING!!!
