she's all that

Today, a great woman is celebrating her 56th birthday. She holds the highest place of all her children and grandchildren's heart. I say she's our star for all season. She's no other than our one and only nanay.

My ever beautiful and wonderful mother. (I’m already teary eyed.lol!). Seriously, we all look up to her. How she keeps our family intact. How she makes this family strong despite many trials we’ve experienced as individual and as a family. How she never fails to make us feel loved and worthy. In her own unique way, she makes us feel one - united. She’s the soul of our family.

You know, my mom never had a happy childhood. Her mother (my lola) died when she was just 4 years old. Imagine a world without a mother to guide you. To add up to that, her father (my lolo) remarries again. So that left my mom and her siblings to fend for themselves. My mom sometimes tell us how hard her life was back then but the most famous story of her was when she begged her father to give her P10.00 for her tuition fee. Yeah you read it right! 10.00 for a tuition fee so that she can finish her high school studies. But sadly, poverty gets in the way of her dream of finishing her studies.

She didn’t finish high school nor had a college degree diploma but she taught us the greatest lesson we could ever learn - how to love, how to nurture, and how to be selfless. She’s all that!

I really salute all “good” mothers in the world! You are one of the reasons why the world is a better place to live in. I don't know if I can live this life without my mom by my side. I can't thank her enough for all the love and care she always gives us. Happy Birthday again ina and “We love you!”

taking that first step...

I don’t know why I’m feeling low. Like no one really cares. Or no one really understands. I’ve been like this since yesterday. When you're 24/7 in the house, one cannot help but feel worthless. And my sister katarayan is getting on my nerves lately. I don’t know tlga. If not for the good news I received this afternoon, I say this day sucks!

The good news is I got to tutor kids starting tomorrow. I feel teaching is a job I will be good at. But I wouldn’t know if this job is really for me, unless I try it. I’ve been praying for these actually. It’s on my “to do list” before 2009 ends. I'm somewhat fulfilled that finally I’m taking my first step towards that goal.

I really hope things would be better from now on. I’m excited to meet new friends and new kids. I’m really overwhelmed when I saw them this afternoon– smiling, giggling, playing. I just hope pray they are not as makulit as my two nephews are. LOL. And I wish they’ll learn from me as I’m sure that they will taught me lessons beyond any book can offer.

I’ll tell you more stories in the coming days. ;)

No Work, No Pay

I’m having a rough start this year. I think it serves me right after wishing my 2010 to be daring. LOL. Well, this is what happened, on our first day of work after the holidays, my boss talk to us that we don’t have a job anymore. Our office in Riyadh decided to drop us because they didn’t want to negotiate with the demands of our company. It’s a long story but I felt it coming. I knew I can never be secure with the way things are at our company. I couldn’t blame them since we’re just an outsource company.

So now, I’m officially a tambay. A full time housemate. Living my life like its holiday everyday! Hehe. I have mixed feeling about all of these. I’m kinda happy and sad. Happy kc now I can do things I wanted to do. I can wake up whatever time I want. I can spend my day whichever way I like. And it’s no secret that I don’t really feel any satisfaction working as a cad operator. I mean it’s always the same things every day. I check how many windows and doors in a plan. Then make a section of it. If I got lucky I do the drawing list also. It’s tedious. So it’s nice to break out from that routine.

On the other hand, I’m sad coz it’s still nice to have a work and have salary. Buy few things for myself. Save some money for my dream Singapore vacay. No work, no pay. I know I can always look for a new job but I felt like I’m too old for this. You know the process of getting a job again: interviews and exams. And I don’t know if it’s the hiring season. Plus with the 7.40% unemployed, how big my chances are? I should have a stable job by this age. *sigh

But I’m not losing hope. I pray I’ll find MY dream job this time. My plan is to try my luck in teaching. But whatever decent job is fine with me. I’ll give myself a week or two then I’ll pass my resume around. In the mean time, I’ll revive my online business. I’ve neglected it for a few months now. At least it’s something to keep me sane while I’m in the verge of boredom. Who knows? I’ll be rich enough with this business that I don’t need to work! Haha. You know what, I won’t look at my unemployment as a problem, I'll take this a challenge! Aja! :)
